TOP 5: Sky blue.

London skies have been very grey lately, and I’m craving a bit of blue. Here are five blue-skied photos from my archives:

1. Spanish seas mirroring Spanish skies.

2. Bermondsey evening lights.

3. London on a crisp spring day.

4. My (admittedly filthy) skylight.

5. Bristol blues.

You can see more of my photos on my Flickr.

TOP 5: Sky Blue Sky.

The weather is fine in Londontown! Listen to this song by Wilco and enjoy these brilliant blues!

1. Quite possibly my favourite book cover, ever.

2. Piles of sky blue pencils (From here.)

3. A portrait of my toilet. Beauty in small things, and all that.

4. A double blue sky, taken by me, near Tower Bridge.

5. Sky blue boogie time.

Right! I’m going for a walk! Enjoy your day, Londoners (and everyone else too, for that matter.)

TOP 5: The deep blue.

‘Oh it’s all that you can do on this side of the blue’

1. Mass, by Kate Shaw. I had this as my desktop background for a long time. There’s just something so steady and quiet about it.

2. This was also my desktop background, incidentally. I am clearly drawn to images of the sea. Found here.

3. ‘Old Ocean’, by Chelsea Green Lewyta. This one is so…sad.

4. A still from the gorgeous film, Persepolis, based on the graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi. You need to read it, or watch it, or both.

5. This photo makes me feel so small. Does anybody know the original source? I can’t track it down. Found here.

I grew up near the sea, and I really miss it.

TOP 5: Athens Haze.

White Light, White Heat.

1. Sun on concrete and glass.

2. Warm white marble.

3. Reflecting pools and humidity.

4. A breath of fresh air.

5. Way up above.

TOP 5: Blue and white.

Blue and white are the colours of Greece. They represent the blue sea and its frothy waves, and also the brilliant blue sky with its pure white clouds. I miss these colours, and it comforts me to see them popping up allover London, too.

1. London

2. Athens

TOP 5: Sky Lines.

I often complain about the English sky, but hey – at least it’s never boring.

1. Veiny trees against the blue.

2. Two white lines and one-and-a-half birds.

3. A washing line bisecting the dusk sky.

4. The enormous, windowed end of Paddington station.

5. Electric cables and an electrical storm brewing.

TOP 5: Ultramarine.

I’ve never really liked the colour blue, but certain shades are growing on me at an alarming rate.

1. Deep and peaceful blues at the London Zoo Aquarium.

2. Benches matching the night sky.

3. You’d be cocky too if you had a coat like that.

4. The warmest shade of blue, no?

5. Wedding day blues. (It wasn’t her wedding, FYI.)

TOP 5: Pink and blue.

If I had to describe this colour combo in words, they would be BOOM! and POW!

1. The seats on the Metropolitan Line of the London Underground.

2. Nature knows her stuff.

3. Fabric + light + glass = awesome.

4. I am a sucker for good packaging. But that’s the point of good packaging.

5. Mother nature scores again!

TOP 5: Underwater.

I once danced to this song, back in the days of ballet school. Each dancer got to be their sea creature of choice, and I chose to be…a sea snail (for the silvery garments and slithery movements). It was an inspired choice, I think.

1. Through thick glass, at the aquarium.

2. Handwashing my frocks in the bathtub.

3. Water weeds waving.

4. Silence and rippled, blue light.

5. Fat duck above; fat carp below.

p.s. Don’t forget to submit a photo!
