TOP 5: Eurovision (cupcakes).

I really like Eurovision, and I really like baking. This year, I decided to combine these two passions, because I’m wild like that. Below are the results.

1. United Kingdom Cupcakes. Note colour scheme and royal platter. Oh yes.

2. Next year I’m totally making Jedward cupcakes.

3. Greek cupcakes. (You shoulda seen my face when I found these flags.)

4. Cyprus didn’t compete, but that’s where I’m from so I had to represent!

5. This is a shot of everyone stuffing their faces. Mission accomplished.

TOP 5: Frosting.

Dear Frosting, You are very beautiful. Let’s stay together forever. Love always, Helena.

1. Rosewater icing, made by my own fair hands. I AM SO PROUD.

2. Deleriously creamy domes of frosting, at Borough Market.

3. Oreo, Caramel, Cream Cheese and Strawberry. From Raoul’s Deli.

4. Delicate buttercream with crystallised petals, at the Haymarket Hotel.

5. And finally, one for the minimalists out there.

TOP 5: Chocolate II.

When it comes to chocolate, once is not enough.

1. A tiny, tasty token from Westminster Abbey.

2. Cranberry, orange and nut slabs. YES, PLEASE.

3. Fresh, handmade dark chocolate truffles.

4. You can’t go wrong with Nutella cupcakes.


5. Cookie batter with a huge amount of milk choc chips.

Food tastes better when it looks good. Fact.

1. A visual punch from avocado skins and carrot slices.

2. Pastel citrus hues of Lemon and lime macarons.

4. Creamy cupcake colours.

5. Stuffed pepper stripes.

TOP 5: Cupcakes (Round II).

Cupcakes: They look very good, they taste very good. Enough said.

1. Robots and cupcakes: an ideal combination.

2. Peyton & Byrne cupcakes are topped with decadent dollops of frosting.

3. Stickers from Paperchase; frame from Habitat; Postcard from NYC.

4. Food colouring madness. (We topped them with yellow frosting, FYI.)

5. I got this Sock-cake for Christmas but it’s too pretty to unroll.

TOP 5: Pink.

I’m not going to write much because that first picture is making me hungry. I’m going to make a snack (milk with rose cordial, both pink and delicious).

1. Cherry blossoms + cherries on top.

2. My mum bought us matching slippers. (They matched the carpet, too.)

3. The mustaches were a nice touch, don’t you reckon?

4. Vivid hydrangeas at Columbia Road market.

5. Some discoloured red mullet.

TOP 5: Pastels.

I’ve never been a pastel sort of girl, I’ve always gone for reds and blacks and acidic greens. Lately though, things are changing. I blame you, and you, and you.

1. The retro-kitsch ceiling of East London’s Troxy ballroom.

2. Shallow water.

3. Rose cupcakes from the Hummingbird Bakery.

4. Dainty frocks at Rokit Vintage.

5. Misty pink blooms in London Zoo’s butterfly garden.

TOP 5: Tea parties.

I really like tea. I don’t think I was so keen on it before I moved to England, but that was many moons ago. Anyway, I’ve always  enjoyed cake(s) and colourful things, and now I just throw tea into the mix and call it a tea party.

1. A Christmas display at Liberty. Super sensory overload, and I like it.

2. This is at my house. Needless to say, I like colours.

3. Cupcakes just off London’s Carnaby Street. They came and they went.

4. My first ever afternoon tea. Not a great shot – I was focusing on eating!

5. The remains of the day.
