TOP 5: Fruit and Bloom.

Hello! As you know, I’ve been on holiday in Cyprus for the last week. Springtime in Cyprus is pretty beaut, with a variety of trees in bloom (or loaded with slowly ripening fruit). I took lots of pictures, and these are my 5 favourites.

1. A giant, sticky pomelo blossom.

2. This is a prickly pear cactus. Have you ever eaten a prickly pear? The fruit inside is a vivid orange or pink, and is juicy, seed-studded and mildly sweet. They taste so good straight out of the fridge.

3. My grandparents were fruit farmers, and my parents are very good at identifying fruit trees. Having said that, my dad wasn’t sure if this was a peach or an apple blossom. Any ideas?

4. These furry green beasts house fresh little almonds. Yes. Almonds.

5. Perfect purple lemon blossoms. This is my favourite smell in the world.

TOP 5: Vintage Florals.

I was browsing on Etsy today and came across a huge amount of intensely printed vintage fabric. Here are five of my favourite florals.

1. Pink Mod Floral, from VintageHeartHandHome

2. Ambrosia Vintage Fabric by Paper Hill Fabrics

3. Hawaiian vintage, by Wit Sister.

4. A pastel vintage fabric, from VintageHeartHandHome

5. Purple quilting fabric, by Busy Bee Quilting

TOP 5: Petals.

The roses on my street are blooming, so I’ve got flowers on the brain.

1. Felt flowers for your lapel (or your hair).

2. Pastel petals (for the bees, mainly).

3. Painted petals (I wish this was my window).

4. A skirtful of petals + a fistful of petals

5. These are my lips seen through a teleidoscope.

TOP 5: Yellow bloom.

Spring flowers drenched in sunshine:

1. Rippled frills on daffodils.

2. Horrockses vintage frocks.

3. Narcissus flowers with their downturned heads.

4. Golden roses.

5. Spring blooms and a butter-yellow jumper.

(The weather in London has taken a turn for the worse, and I’m using these photos as my lifeline.)

TOP 5: Blushing spring.

This is the season when delicate colours poke their heads out from the winter grey.

1. Candy coloured petals.

2. Morning dew.

3. Buttery daffodils.

4. Feathery pastel petals.

5. Delicate blossoms.

4. I’m getting good (well, getting better) at frosting cupcakes.

5. The real thing, because you can’t improve on perfect.

TOP 5: Floral adornments.

London Fashion Week has just kicked off. Turns out they don’t mind flowers, either.

1. Some very elaborate bling.

2. Glam headgear for Queens of the Desert.

3. My White hole-punched top and 60s style lace dress.

TOP 5: The Regent’s Park.

April in London has been incredible this year. The month ends today, and the forecast for this weekend is rain, rain, rain. I can’t bear it. I’m going to bury my head in these photos, instead.

1. Low afternoon sun.

2. Densely planted tulips + strong sun = stained glass window effect.

3. Lawn loungers.

4. I’m a lawn-lounger, too.

5. Shorn willows and happy geese.

TOP 5: Spring blooms.

I could wax lyrical about flowers for a while, but I think I’ll give you a recipe for cherry blossom doughnuts instead. You’re welcome.

1. Thick bunches of snowy petals against that flat blue sky. Sigh.

2. I love how the strong light penetrates the leaves and makes them glow.

3. Grape Hyacinths in someone’s front garden.

4. Magnolias are my favourite, especially the leafless varieties.

5. Little purple candelabras in springtime Cyprus.

TOP 5: Fabric Flowers.

Apart from the human body, is there any natural form that is revered as much as flowers? We take their shapes and colours and scrawl them onto ourselves and our clothes and our homes, and we bottle their scents and spray them onto our necks. Oh, spring, won’t you hurry up? Fabric flowers are good, but I’m craving the real thing.

1. A fuchsia orchid from Accessorize. Good for wall and self adornment.

2. Some 2-Dimensional blooms at the Haymarket Hotel, London.

3. The bag I’d take on a summer stroll in the meadows. (SIGH.)

4. Vintage styling involving cabbage-sized silk roses.

5. And lastly, my beloved fairy lights from Monsoon.
