TOP 5: Lips.

Pucker up, ladies and gents!

1. This inspired image comes from 16 Magazine from 1965 . Ringo’s are my favourite, and John needed some serious Chapstick therapy.

kiss2. Mega red lips, by Michele Molinari. (Is that a hint of ‘tache I spy?)

3. ‘That night in August’. Seems like quite the night, indeed.

how sweet it is to be loved by you4. Sugar lips, literally. By Eli Santana.

5. One day, I’ll own a Lulu Guinness Fuchsia Metallic Snakeskin lips clutch. Sometimes I go to Selfridges and just look at them.

TOP 5: Shapes, colours and patterns (at the plant nursery).

Whenever I’m feeling uninspired, I head to my local plant nursery. There’s so much to see there, and it changes all the time. I always come home with a camera full of pictures and a head full of ideas.

1. Huge grey/green leaves and striking fluoro blooms.

2. Leafy rosettes with hints of blues and reds.

3. Spiky, flame-like flowers and delicately painted leaves.

1. Stripes and spots and punchy hues.

3. Bubbly, dappled, heart-shaped leaves.

(All photos taken by me. See more on my Flickr page.)

TOP 5: Stereoscopic.

Stereoscopy is a technique where the illusion of depth is artificially created: slightly different images are presented to the left eye and right eye. 3d glasses merge these two separate images, so that your brain can process them as a single (seemingly) 3d image.

Without 3d glasses on, things start to look a bit…dizzying. Here are some striking examples of stereoscopic photography.

TOP 5: Red Balloons.

These photos were taken in one afternoon, sometime in December. My friend Kate and I headed to Southbank armed with helium balloons, my camera and a lot of energy. It was freezing, but we kept warm by jumping non-stop for hours.

1. My red jumper perfectly matched the balloons.

2. Is it Kate or is it a Banksy?

3. Up, up and away.

4. Kate’s a choreographer (amongst other things) so she knew how to leap.

5. I love the oblivious passers by in this shot.

The photos were taken for one of Kate’s projects, so I’ll let you know if they end up on a poster!

TOP 4: My Christmas Cards!

Hello! I thought I’d re-emerge for a moment, to tell you about the Christmas cards I’ve made! There are four designs, and they are currently available in my shop. I hope you like them!

I’m selling the cards in packs of six (with two designs per pack). They can also be bought individually (the individual cards are hand-decorated with acrylic rhinestones, which I think looks extra cool).

I realise that frogs, kiwi fruit and dinosaurs are not exactly traditional Christmas imagery. However, I think the cards look festive and joyful, which is what the Christmas season is about for many people. I hope they make you smile!

p.s. I baked the cupcakes and gingerbread robots featured on the cards – I can confirm that they were very tasty.

TOP 5: Red wine.

I don’t really like how wine tastes, but I love how it looks:

1. Looking down a wine glass.

2. The Kyrenia shipwreck was found with 400 ancient jars of wine aboard.

3. Oops!

4. Wine coloured carpet.

5. In the news.

TOP 5: Berry delicious.

WARNING: This post is mainly about cake.

1. A very unusual looking cake from Spitalfields market.

2. These tarts would be perfect if the stalks had been removed. Tsk tsk.

3. Let us move away from cakes for a moment. Here is a delicious cocktail.

4. Here is a freshly picked strawberry…which isn’t actually a berry.

5. Finally, let’s get back to cake: Chocolate fondant with red currants.

TOP 5: Red.

Red is a punch in the face, a kiss on the lips, and a pin in your finger. I love this colour.

1. Let’s begin with a field ablaze with poppies. This is springtime in Cyprus.

2. ‘Illustration/red nail polish/The New Slang‘ = a list of happy things.

3. Gorgeous, glowing lanterns.

4. I have always been jealous of redheads.

5. Easter eggs, Greek style.

TOP 5: Strawberries.

I think about summer a lot. Consequently, I’ve got strawberries on my mind. Specifically, I’m thinking of this.

1. A very kickass strawberry necklace, seen at Spitalfields market.

2. My beloved teacup candle. The only thng it lacks is strawberry scent.

3. The real deal, with flowers and all.

4. A foldaway tote bag, from Paperchase.

5. Uh, yes please.

TOP 5: Apples.

If I was at school and had to write an assignment about apples, it would go like this: I like apples. They are shiny. They come in red and green, which are my favourite colours. You can carry them around without squashing them. You can put them in dessert as well as main meals and they taste good either way. Plus, I once read that munching on an apple is the next best thing to brushing your teeth if, for some reason, you’ve lost your toothbrush. The end.

1. The real deal.

2. An iPod: more fun than the real deal, but with fewer nutrients.

3. These Bucketmen stickers are allover Brick Lane.

4. Delicious treats at Borough Market.

4. Is she Snow White or is she Eve? (Probably the latter, based on her grin.)

p.s. Submit your photos for COLLECTIVE 5!
